Nature Meets Design(ers)

When co-owners and co-designers Amna Ali and Jackie Brown envisioned the perfect event venue, they knew they wanted to showcase the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley. Instead of converting a barn or manor house, they wanted to create a unique experience that felt fresh, modern, and comfortable. So, they decided to build it from scratch.

Gather Greene was designed and built around the Dutch concept of gezellig, which loosely translates to the convivial feeling that you get when gathering with friends in a cozy environment. This concept set the tone for their event space, while the Scandinavian modern aesthetic was inspired by Ali and Brown’s studies abroad. The duo met while pursuing their graduate degrees in Interior Design at Pratt Institute, and they also spent time studying architecture and furniture design in Copenhagen.

“That feeling of gezellig is really what we want people to experience when they’re with us,” says Ali. “It's not just about the design, or the modern amenities — it's about the choreography of an experience at Gather Greene. We put a lot of thought into this, and hope guests walk away inspired.”

A magical experience at Gather Greene starts with a sense of privacy, the property is tucked away down a winding road in Coxsackie. Guests are immersed in nature everywhere on over 100 acres, which are surrounded by beautiful views of the Catskill and Berkshire Mountains. From the all-weather Pavilion complete with custom, dual dressing suites that are awash with natural light to the 17 minimalist cabins immersed in nature — every detail was considered to support dynamic, multi-day events.

“We designed Gather Greene so our guests can tap into a sense of togetherness that’s innate,” says Brown. “Gathering around fires, being together in these beautiful, natural spaces — there’s something joyful in these connections that’s almost primal.”
